Mrs. Baertlein grew up in Gresham, Oregon, and was lucky enough to attend public school in a small, close-knit school district. Once she entered high school, she had the opportunities to tutor and coach younger children, as well as the chance to be a student leader/counselor at the Multnomah ESD's Outdoor School Program and the Washington County 4H Camp. These experiences helped Mrs. Baertlein realize that she wanted to work in a field where she could watch and aid in the learning process. Once she was in college, she decided to focus on middle and high school students, since that's often when student stop loving to read and/or learn. As an English teacher, she hopes to turn that around for as many students as she can.
In her free time, Mrs. Baertlein enjoys reading, photography, hiking, sewing, paintball, cooking and baking. She and her husband have an adorable baby boy, Charlie, as well as three furry children: a Calico cat named Hermione and two black Labrador Retrievers named Sara and Sassy.
